Bio

My name is Susan Powell, and this will be my second year at Pleasant Hill Elementary School.  After graduating from Auburn University, my teaching career began in Arlington, TX where I taught 4th grade for ten years.  Next, we moved to Atmore, AL, my hometown, and I taught first grade prior to our move to the Memphis area.  I began teaching at DeSoto Central in 1999.  After having taught fourth grade as well as 7th English/Literature, I have taught gifted education for three years. I am excited about being your child’s spotlight teacher at Pleasant Hill.  I am married to Chris Powell, and we have 2 daughters.  Kathryn is a teacher at Horn Lake Middle School, and Caroline is a sophomore at Ole Miss. We have three pets:  Frisky, our Maine Coon; Shug, our minature poodle; and Jude, our toy poodle.

I LOVE college football ~  the Auburn Tigers are my favorite team!  I also enjoy watching all of the SEC games and look forward to football season beginning each fall.  I also enjoy spending time with my family, reading, Bible study, sewing, and monogramming.

I look forward to getting to know each of you!  If you have any questions, you can email me by clicking on "contact me" below or calling our school to leave a message.
