A Message From Stephanie Case

Dear Parents,

It is a pleasure to be your child’s third grade English Language Arts teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.  I would like to take a moment to tell you a little about myself.  I'm married to Duane Case, principal at Hernando High School. We celebrated our twenty-sixth wedding anniversary this summer.  Duane and I  have a fourteen year old son, Keegan, who is a freshman at Hernando High. Our dog, Brandy, (adopted from DeSoto Animal Rescue) is also a very important part of our family. We live in Hernando and are active members of DeSoto Hills Baptist Church.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Delta State University, a Master’s degree from Mississippi State University, and certification in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.  I have twenty-five years of experience in the field of education, and have served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the DeSoto County School District.

Although I have appreciated each opportunity the district has allowed, my heart has always and will always be in the classroom. I have dreamed of becoming a teacher since I was five years old.  With many in the field of education, I believe teaching is their calling - much like that of a minister.  I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that teaching is my calling.

As a teacher, I have some of the most important responsibilities.  First of all, it is my ultimate responsibility to provide a safe environment for the students.  Secondly, it is my responsibility to take the students from where they are academically as far as I possibly can in one school year. My job is to "grow them".  Finally, it is my duty to instill a love of learning that will hopefully last a lifetime.  I do not take these responsibilities lightly.  I will do all that I possibly can to successfully fulfill each responsibility.

My philosophy of education is quite simple.  I believe all children can learn given the appropriate opportunity.  I also believe that school should be an enjoyable experience; one that offers the students far more than just reading, writing, and arithmetic.  Clearly, PHES is THE place to be when it comes to learning through fun, real-world connections.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.  Please know that I enjoy every single day that I spend with my students. I look forward to going to work each day, and I hope it shows.  I consider it a privilege to teach your child. Lots of exciting adventures are ahead!  If I can be of assistance to you in any way, please text, email, or call.

Proud to be a Jaguar,
Stephanie Case
