About the Teacher

I have lived in DeSoto County my entire life, graduating from Southaven High School in 1999.  I earned my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix in 2011.  I then became a licensed Special Education teacher through Teach Mississippi Institute at the University of Mississippi in 2013.  I worked for DeSoto County Schools, teaching at Horn Lake Middle School as a 7th grade Special Education Inclusion teacher for 6 years.  This is my second year teaching at Pleasant Hill Elementary in the self-contained classroom & I am beyond excited to be working with these extra special kiddos again this year!

Teaching Special Education is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding things I have ever done.  I love helping students with all ranges and abilities to reach their full potential.  It is rewarding to know that I have been able to teach them in a way that makes sense to them and help them on their way to future independence.  As your child's self-contained teacher, it is my priority to make sure they feel safe, secure, and loved all while continuing to learn and grow and have loads of fun!

When I'm not working as a teacher, I am busy being a wife & mother.  My husband & I have been married for 20 years and we have 3 daughters, ages 17, 5, & 2, along with a Pug puppy named Ollie.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family & friends and being outdoors.  I also have a passion for photography and enjoy practicing my photography skills mainly on my kids and dog.
