My name is Melissa Shaw. I am very excited to be an assistant principal at Pleasant Hill Elementary! This will be my second year at PHES as an assistant principal. Previously, I have been an assistant principal at DeSoto Central Primary, Hernando Elementary, and Southaven Intermediate School. I have a total of 9 years in DCS. Before coming to PHES, I taught 1st grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. I was also a SPED inclusion teacher and TST chair at the high school level.
My Master's degree is from The University of Mississippi, and my undergraduate degree is from Mississippi University for Women.
My husband Gordon and I have been married for 18 years. We have three children. Our twin daughters, Janna and Julia, are 15 years old and in the 10th grade at Hernando High School. We also have a son Trip, who is 9 years younger than his sisters and starting first grade at Hernando Elementary School.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions you might have! I'm looking forward to a great year at PHES!
